KEEP ME AS THE APPLE OF YOUR EYES

KEEP ME AS THE APPLE OF YOUR EYE

Psalm 17:1-15

Our God is going to hide you in a safety position even though many are firing and dieing   at this season it shall not be you potion Psalm 16:10-11. Just click here:
https://www.facebook.com/PDSshoppingmall/ you will see that you can make your home to reflect the glory of God.
Verse8 of our scriptural reference today says, “Keep me as the apple of Thy eye.  Hide me under the shadow of Your wings.”  No part of the body is more precious, tender and  carefully guarded than the eye. Of the eye, no portion is more particularly  protected than the central apple, the pupil, or as the Hebrews call it ’the daughter of the eye’. Just as the Lord, has placed the eye in a well-protected position, so He has put heavenly structures in place to protect you who believe and trusts in Him.  He is happy protecting us because we trust in His Son, Jesus Christ, and also, members of His mystical body.  It was in realization of this that David cried out saying, “Hear a just cause, O LORD. Attend to my cry. Give ear to my prayers that do not come out of feigned lips (Ps. 17:1)Show your marvellous loving-kindness, You who save by Your right hand those who put their trust in You, from those who rise up against them.” (Ps. 17:7)

Beloved, day after day, the enemies of our souls congregate in their covens and in other dark places of this world with the sole agenda of how to destroy us.  They enter into agreements and deadly contracts on how to deem the love of God in our hearts.  They agree among themselves to afflict our spouse with low sperm count, ovarian cyst, fibroid, broken marriages, stagnation, etc.  As the scripture says, a lot of evils are found in the domain of darkness.  No wonder David also prayed, “Keep me as the apple of Your eye.  Hide me under the shadow of Your wings from the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies who surround me.”(Ps. 17:8 —9).  Of course in the eyes of Saul, David was a dog, a wile creature; but in the eyes of God he was loved, heavily protected as the

apple of God’s eyes.

Dear friend, today the Holy Spirit announces to you that God is very well aware of all that you are going through; because you are the apple of His eyes.  Besides He has engraved your name on the palms of His hands (Isa 43:1).  He says, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you.  I have called you by your name.  You are Mine.  When you pass through waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you.  When you walk through fire, you will not be burned, nor the flames set you ablaze.”“Since you areprecious in My sight, you have been honoured.  So I have loved you.  Therefore, I will give men for you and people for your life.”  (Isa. 43:1b —2, 4).  All the Saints of God are dear to Him at all times; so never you think that you are alone.  Hear Jeremiah Burroughs, “The Saints are weak and shiftless for themselves, but the Lord is so much the more, tender over them.”  You are very important to God and He will never look away from you in your suffering.  What God requires of you is persistence in prayers and praises; supported by unwavering love for, and faith in Him.

DO YOU LOVE ME

DO YOU LOVE ME?
John 21:16

Dear child of God, you are indeed blessed to be around the banquet of the Divine Word. Jesus in today’s scriptural reading asked thrice: “Do you love me?” Peter was perturbed at these questions. Maybe he was not feeling comfortable with the questions asked him. In his hurried nature, Peter would not give a damn on such question. He answered, “Yes Lord. You know that I love You.” How could he claim to have loved Jesus when some days ago he had denied Jesus in the presence of Jesus’ persecutors? The Lord was about showing him something else, what it means to love. To love Jesus in the context of the scriptural reading was to show total involvement or concern for members of the society, because members of the society are a reflection of the person of Jesus on earth. Love is not an action practised in the void; it is extended from a particular self to another. If the Lord had asked Peter if he loved Him, He  was referring to the fact that loving Him entails loving the other members of the society. To be a Christian is to be a disciple of love. Love is that distinctive character of all Christians (Jn.13:35). It is not negotiable. It was the life of love that the Gentiles in Antioch saw that made them call the early believers “Christians”. (Acts. 11:16) The underlining factor of the Ten Commandments is LOVE. The first three commandments stipulate love for God, while the remaining concerns our relationship with our fellow men, dealing with them in love. Hence, St. Anthony Mary Zaccaria says, “We should love and feel compassion for those who oppose us, rather than abhor or despise them, since they harm themselves and do us no good, and adorn us with crowns of everlasting glory, while they incite God’s anger against themselves.” You MUST love even your oppressors, the Lord commands everyone.

      Love has traits.
Apostle Paul writing to the people of Corinth, expounds on what it means to love. Love is patient, kind, without envy. It is not boastful or arrogant. It is not ill-mannered, nor does it seek its own interest. Love is not provoked to anger; keeps no score of offenses. It does not take delight in wrong, but rejoices in truth. Love excuses all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love does not end.(1 Cor. 13:4 – 8) If you possess diverse gifts and do not have love in you, O Child of God, you are nothing (1 Cor.13:2). Love cannot be dismissed from the life of a Child of God like you; it is your character trait. All other virtues are subsumed in love. Love has social dimensions. My brethren, if Jesus asks you today: “Do you love

me?” Your answer probably will be in the affirmative and very spontaneous. You will be able to answer, Lord, you know how many times I pray to you; you know how many times I fast in a week; you know how many times I study the Holy Scriptures; you know how many times I visit you in the Blessed Sacrament; You know how many times I attend mass in a week, etc. All these are part to loving Jesus; but love is extended. Love finds its true meaning in that intrinsic relationship we have with members of the society. God is Love, for He first loved us by sending us His Son to die in our place (Jn. 3:16). No one can claim to have seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us, because He is Love. (1 Jn. 4:12) St. John cautions: “If anyone says. ’I love God,’ while he hates his brother, he is a liar. How can he love God whom he does not see, if he does not love his brother whom he can see? We have received from him this commandment; whoever loves God must also love his brother.”(1 Jn. 4:20-21)You cannot claim to love God and hate your fellow man, for in loving your fellow man, you are loving God.

Jesus in relating what it means to love Him situates the experience of such love in our relation to the members of our society. Those who claim to love Him are those who have extended gestures of love to their fellow men. These are those who have loved Him: those who saw their fellow men hungry or thirsty and provided food and drink to them; naked or a stranger and accommodated such into your abode; sick and you came visiting; in prison and you came to see me. (Mt. 25:31-46) On the last day, judgement shall be based on love. O child of God, you cannot stop loving and still claim to be a child of God.

FRUITFUL PRAYER LIFE

LIVING A  FRUITFUL PRAYER LIFE (2)

Scripture Reading: Exodus 17:11-13

Let us start today’s devotional with a story from Fr. Michael Akpan. “Jane was a wonderful woman. Wherever she found herself, people loved her. To many she was a helper in times of trouble. In her parish she was a member of the Blue Army and the Charismatic Renewal. It was evident that she was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Many went to her for prayers. She was a ready and able intercessor. She gave spiritual support to friends and relatives. When her husband lost his job, Jane spent several nights in prayer and a new door for a better job was opened for him. She used to gather her husband and their five children in prayers every morning and evening. She used to have revelations about several issues during her private prayer sessions. Three days to the initiation of her second son into a cult, Jane had a dream after she had prayed. In the dream she saw people asking her son to write his name on a sheet of paper which had blood on it. In the dream a voice told her that her second son is about to be enlisted into violence. She woke up and prayed against it and the next morning she confronted her son on the issue. As she began praying with him, her son broke down in tears and told his mum how he started getting involved with a particular group of friends in school. That was how her son was delivered. As a nurse in the state hospital Jane prayed often for sick persons and they became well. Years later,  she made some new friends, most of whom were members of her parish. Initially she felt uncomfortable about these new friends, but gradually she felt relaxed in their company. She began spending more time with them. She gradually fell in love with  some novels which were given to her by one of the new friends. Her daily bible reading dropped. She began boycotting prayer meetings and claimed that she was busy with other urgent matters. Her behavior started changing. She will pick a quarrel with her husband at the slightest provocation. To avoid her, her husband started coming home late at night drunk. Two years later he was diagnosed of a severe liver disease. The doctor said he will die in less than four months. As if the problem at hand was not enough, her twenty year old daughter packed out of the house to live with an unknown man away from home. That year, this same  daughter had an abortion that almost took her life. In the midst of these problems, JANE DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. SHE HAD LOST INTEREST IN

PRAYER. She knew something was wrong, but she could not pray again.” 2 Samuel 1:27 says “How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!”

Child of God, what is your own story? What is the condition of your prayer life?  2 Kings 19:19 says, “Now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that You alone, O Lord, are God.” (NIV) When Hezekiah was threatened, he ran to the temple to pray, and earned victory from the Lord. Prayer is the secret of living victoriously. It is time you redoubled your efforts in prayer. The circumstance in which Samson found himself after Delilah had cut him off from the source of his strength, provoked him in the spirit that he prayed. Are you losing victory in any area of your life, or are you receiving threats from evil powers? Is the devil destroying what you labored for? Reactivate your faith, reconnect to God the source of your power again, go down on your knees again, lift up  holy hands in prayer, employ the weapon of fasting, and hold onto God’s word again like King Hezekiah and Samson. Do not behave like Jane who could not pray in her greatest time of need. You are not only authorized to speak to God, you are invited to approach God in prayer.

Prayer Points:

Confess your sins and weakness to God.Take the Prayer against the Force of Darkness.Take the Prayer for Spiritual Renewal.Take the Prayer of St. Padre Pio.

Grades of sin

Mortal versus Venial Sin

A serious, grave or mortal sin is the knowing and willful violation of God's law in a serious matter, for example, idolatry, adultery, murder, slander. These are all things gravely contrary to the love we owe God and, because of Him, our neighbor. As Jesus taught, when condemning even looking at a woman lustfully, sin can be both interior (choices of the will alone) or exterior (choices of the will carried into action). A man who willfully desires to fornicate, steal, murder or some other grave sin, has already seriously offended God by choosing interiorly what God has prohibited.

Mortal sin is called mortal because it is the "spiritual" death of the soul (separation from God). If we are in the state of grace it loses this supernatural life for us. If we die without repenting we will lose Him for eternity. However, by turning our hearts back to Him and receiving the Sacrament of Penance we are restored to His friendship. Catholics are not allowed to receive Communion if they have unconfessed mortal sins.

Venial sins are slight sins. They do not break our friendship with God, although they injure it. They involve disobedience of the law of God in slight (venial) matters. If we gossip and destroy a person's reputation it would be a mortal sin. However, normally gossip is about trivial matters and only venially sinful. Additionally, something that is otherwise a mortal sin (e.g. slander) may be in a particular case only a venial sin. The person may have acted without reflection or under force of habit. Thus, not fully intending the action their guilt before God is reduced. It is always good to remember, especially those who are trying to be faithful but sometimes fall, that for mortal sin it must not only be 1) serious matter, but 2) the person must know it is serious and then 3) freely commit it.

These two categories of sin are explicitly to be found in Sacred Scripture. In the Old Covenant there were sins that merited the death penalty and sins that could be expiated by an offering. This Law was a teacher that prepared the way for the faith (Gal. 3:24). In the New Covenant these material categories are replaced by spiritual ones, natural death by eternal death. There are thus daily faults for which we must daily ask forgiveness (Mt. 6:12), for even the "just man falls seven times a day" (Prov. 24:16), and mortal faults that separate the sinner from God (1 Cor. 6:9-10) for all eternity.

Lord teach me to bring Glory to you

Romans 11:33-36 Praise to God How great are God's riches! How deep are his wisdom and knowledge! Who can explain his decisions? Who can understand his ways? As the scripture says, “Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who is able to give him advice? Who has ever given him anything, so that he had to pay it back?” For all things were created by him, and all things exist through him and for him. To God be the glory forever! Amen.

Good News Translation Revelation 21:23 The city has no need of the sun or the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God shines on it, and the Lamb is its lamp.

Good News Translation 1 Chronicles 16:24 Proclaim his glory to the nations, his mighty deeds to all peoples.

Good News Translation Psalm 29:1-2 The Voice of the Lord in the Storm Praise the Lord, you heavenly beings; praise his glory and power. Praise the Lord's glorious name; bow down before the Holy One when he appears.
