THE DOGMA OF THE TRINITY

             THE MOST HOLY TRINITY

THIS IS THE FACE WITH WHICH GOD HAS REVEAL HIMSELF ,WALK WITH HUMALITY.

     The dogma of the Trinity
The Trinity is the term employed to signify the central doctrine of the Christian religion— the truth that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the son, and the holy Spirit, these three persons being truly distinct one from another. Thus, in the words of the Athanasian Creed: "the Father is God, the Son is God, and the holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God." In this Trinity of persons the Son is begotten of the Father by an eternal generation, and the holy Spirit proceeds by an eternal precession from the Father and the son. Yet, notwithstanding this difference as to origin, the persons are co-eternal and co-equal: all alike are uncreated and omnipotent. (Catholic ensicopedia)

(Ccc 237)
The Trinity is a mystery of faith in the strict sense, one of the "mysteries that are hidden in God, which can never be known unless they are revealed by God".58 To be sure, God has left traces of his Trinitarian being in his work of creation and in his Revelation throughout the Old Testament. But his inmost Being as Holy Trinity is a mystery that is inaccessible to reason alone or even to Israel's faith before the Incarnation of God's Son and sending of the holy spirit.

Pope Francis in 26/05 /13 explained the Holy Trinity is not the product of human reasoning, but the face with which God has revealed himself, walking with humanity

TRACES OF THE TRINITARIAN BEING IN THE BIBLE

       #  Unitarity of the holy Trinity

But from the very beginning we see God as a Trinity. Notice the plural pronouns "us" and "our" in Genesis 1:26 -- Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

Gen.3:22,Gen.11:6-7

     #  THREE IN ONE GOD DOES NOT IMPLIES MANY GODS

  • "Hear, O Israel! QThe LORD is our God, the LORD is one!" (Deut. 6:4)

  • "I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God." (Isa. 45:5)

  • There is no God but one. (1Cor. 8:4)

  • # HOLY TRINITY REVEALED AT THE BAMPTISM
  •  The whole Trinity is therefore present at the Jordan to reveal this mystery, to authenticate and support Christ's mission and to indicate that with him salvation history has entered its central and definitive phase.(Pope John Paul II)
  • And after being baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased." (Matt. 3:16-17)

  • "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 28:19)

  • # CO - EQUALITY OF THE PERSONS IN THE HOLY TRINITY
  • Jesus said: "I and the Father are one." (John 10:30)

  • "He who has seen Me has seen the Father." (John 14:9)

  • "He who beholds Me beholds the One who sent Me." (John 12:45)

  • If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. (Rom. 8:9)
  • # THE HOLY TRINITY REVEALED AT THE CONCEPTION
  • "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 1:20)

  • And the angel answered and said to her [Mary], "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35)
    # THE HOLY SPIRIT PROCEEDS FROM THE FATHER AND THE SON
  • [Jesus speaking to His disciples] "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you." ... "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him." (John 14:16-17, 23)

  • John 20:22 Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit

  • The Most holy Trinity is a mystery and pure dogma of the church, which through glimpse divine revelations ,man was able to spherically understand that God the father,GOD the son and God the Holy spirit are one God.
